The technician will install a new RF transmitter. If the Utility requires a meter replacement, they will remove the existing meter and install a new encoder-style meter plus the transmitter. Depending on the product, the transmitter may be mounted outside with wire connecting the devices.
Most installs take 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the RF transmitter.
Yes if your meter is inside the premises (an adult 18+ must be present). If the meter is outside in the yard, you do not need to be home.
NECO/AllDrive installation technicians carry proper identification and have marked vehicles. Your local Water Utility and Police Department have a list of technicians and their vehicles—call them if you’d like to verify.
